About the Author
Dr. Ed Hindson is the Assistant Chancellor and Dean of the Tim LaHaye School of Prophecy at Liberty University in Virginia. A Gold Medallion Award winning author, Hindson is also one of America's premier Bible teachers, having taught over 100,000 students in the past 30 years. He holds degrees from Westminster Theological Seminary and the University of South Africa.

King James Bible Commentary

This is one of the best one-volume commentaries on the market, especially for those who are in a tradition which exclusively uses the King James Version. Those in this tradition grow weary of those who use an ecclectic text or modern translation as the basis for commentary, while this one uses the KJV and its underlying Greek text as its basis, giving no space to the work of textual critics. The notes are very concise (made more so by the inclusion of the KJV text into the sentence flow of the commentary itself), and are generally very helpful (although it could have been wished that the "introductory" sections had been expanded). The theological position is generally in line with what might be termed "Baptistic." It is consistently conservative, holding to a high view of Scripture, and interacting very little with modern liberal views. Furthermore, it is generally written in an easy-to-understand style. Overall, those who use only the KJV could not find a better one-volume commentary.

Quality commentary!

I have read a number of great Bible commentaries over the past 40 years, but this one is so packed with facts and figures, charts and maps, that I'm sorry I didn't know about it sooner. A different scholar is responsible for each book, and most are from a literal point of view. The format is not verbose, and easily fits into my daily Bible study. A good find!

The 1st Commentary I grab when looking for an explanation

This is just such a great commentary. It is full of useful information and usually hits on just the information I was looking for. It is Biblically sound and I can't recommend it enough. I have plenty of other commentary sets and this one is so convenient being all in one volume. When I go to my library to find answers, most often the first book I will look in is the King James Bible Commentary. It is a wealth of information. If I could only own one commentary book, this would definitely be it! So yes I recommend it.
