About the Author
Lori Robinson holds degrees in environmental studies, biology and psychology. She writes about conservation for various blogs and magazines, including Africa Geographic and her own site, SavingWild.com and is a fellow of the International League of Conservation Writers. She lives alongside deer, coyote, rabbits, and bear in a small old adobe home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is her second book.

This Book May Save Lives

In “Saving Wild,” the 50 conservationists' easily-to-read, brief and to the point words on How to Stay Inspired are truly inspiring as well as educational. I learned many things about improving and saving the lives of animals around the world. For example, I had no idea there was an International Fund for Animal Welfare in China. In addition, Lori Robinson’s introductory bios for the conservationists were succinct and informative. Although the book is filled with wonderful writings, one conservationist, Colleen Begg, who currently focuses on African lions, said what I think we can all take to heart: “People can learn to care.” This book is an important accomplishment in that direction.

Don't binge-read; savour it slowly

Sometimes it’s hard not to feel disheartened in the face of climate change, biodiversity loss, overexploitation and wildlife trafficking. In ‘Saving Wild’ Lori Robinson has put together a collection of inspirational messages from conservationists and activists around the world. You’ll find thoughts on nature’s ability to bounce back, the need to live sustainably (starting in our own back yard), and why living in a world without wildlife is too awful to contemplate. Perhaps my favourite contribution is from author Will Stolzenburg, who says, “My formula for keeping hope in a world of despair is to step away from the keyboard, pick up the binoculars and walk out the door.” Because only by appreciating nature and wilderness can we care enough to protect it.
This isn’t a book to binge-read; rather savour it slowly, dipping in to one or two comments a day and taking time to absorb the message.

Totally inspirational

this book is for those of you who are working to make a difference in the world, and are discouraged at times due to a feeling that it is uphill battle. the wisdom from these amazing 50 environmentalists about what inspires them, in the face of the discouragement, has the power to completely change your worldview to one of empowerment and to re-enegergize your efforts -- it certainly has mine. this wisdom is timely, as many of us feel that we are at a tipping point with regard to the state of the planet.
ultimately, this book won't make you more committed, as most of us can't imagine doing anything else, but it will certainly inspire you in ways that
are uniquely orchestrated for you.
