About the Author
Don Ihde is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Stony Brook University, State University of New York. He is the author of several books, including Postphenomenology and Technoscience: The Peking University Lectures and Listening and Voice: Phenomenologies of Sound, Second Edition, both also published by SUNY Press.

Excellent discussion of Phemenological methodologies

Many books discuss phenomenology, but this is the only one I believe that discusses and makes clear central phenomenological methods. It is a revised edition of his first edition published back in the seventies. Ihde did a great job revising his original intention while clarifying the intricacies of "doing phenomenology". Anyone interested in practical phenomenology could do little better than Ihde's book. I recommend it highly as a useful discussion to help one towards phenomenological perceptivity.

excellent contribution to the bridge between philosophy and practical science

This update from the original edition shows the progression of the original thoughts and maintains a crisp clarity in explication of the fundamental concepts of observation in a phenomenological enterprise. And, though it was written long ago, its approach and examples are still relevant. It informs the current approaches to study of quantum probabilities and multistable perception of objects and concepts. Good place to enter the journey for a reader.

EXPERIMENTAL PHENOMENOLGY, 2ND EDITION

Much more informative than the first edition. Concepts are more clearly explained with specific case examples. I enjoyed the book. It is a very good introduction into a difficult field of study. There is no free lunch in Phenomenology. You have to hold onto your chair, bite down on your lip and delve into the material. Step by step you will eventually climb out of your confused, discombobulated state. Good reading to all!!
