A Beautiful Story

I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. Sunny Fannin recently lost her mother and has moved to Texas from Missouri to get away from the memories. She moves in the her mother’s sister, Cassie, whom she’s never met. Cassie nor the town of Liberty Flats turn out to be like anything Sunny imagined. One of the first people she meets in Jake Cameron, Texas Ranger, who is also the acting sheriff. Sparks fly between them but secrets surrounding Sunny’s mother may tear them apart.
I really enjoyed Town Social. Sunny is a bit of a dreamer but she grew considerably during her stay in Liberty Flats and Teddy, the orphan she unofficially adopts, keeps her grounded. Speaking of Teddy, she’s not only a scene stealer but my favorite character. Poor Teddy suffered a lot prior to her father’s death but she never lost the wholesome goodness that little kids are known for. Her upbringing also made her extremely mature in many ways.
Jake is a Texas Ranger who is set in his ways but gets knocked on his butt by the force of nature that is Sunny. I loved that Jake was the first to crack and admitted his feelings for Sunny first. Jake is definitely a man’s man who is unbelievably gentle, loving and protective of Sunny.
Town Social is a great read for anyone who loves historical westerns!

Clumsy for love

How refreshing to see a period Western with most of the details right on. In fact, while they may all be correct, with no anachronisms, I don't want to claim any expertise in this area. But handkerchiefs tucked neatly in dress sleeves, the newest bustle fashions and some of the privations of dirt roads and livestock trailing through the main streets dropping dung helped bring to life a time before our own. On that carefully painted background, the canvas comes alive with the characters and plot twists which provide a very satisfying Romance.
Almost forgot to add that I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review. So far almost everything I've reviewed for them has been a 4 or 5 star experience. From reading reviews by others I've come to realize what a personal experience each review is. We bring ourselves the story and our reaction thereto is informed by our own experiences--part of the joy of reading! So read on, my friend, read on!

Enjoyed

Greatly written small town western historical romance with an added mystery bonus. After the death of her mother, Sunny moves from St. Lois to a small town in Texas to move in with her Aunt Cassie. Here Sunny meets the handsome Ranger Jake whose eyes are "the color of whiskey". Sunny quickly adjusts to small town living by getting the women to build a social center and takes in a recently orphaned little girl. Someone is sabotaging every effort Sunny makes and she questions the reasoning why her mother left the town and who her father really was. With the help of Jake and other, she finally gets the answers to her past. Twist, turns and resolutions made a HEA.
