excellent coverage of transistor amplifiers

I like this book quite a bit. Unlike most books for 1 semester electronics - which try and broadly survey electronics for new students - Arun focuses on diodes, transistors and providing a comprehensive analysis of amplifiers and how to build them. He meshes theory with a practical understanding of various rules-of-thumb.
At almost 500 pages he has enough space to thoroughly cover most everything transistor-amplifier related.
This book would work well as a companion to a general-purpose university electronics textbook. Books like Faissler, Barnaal, Diefenderfer, Simpson, Fortney, Brophy and, of course, Horowitz & Hill.
Arun assumes you know simple DC and AC circuits and how to use a multimeter.
The index is quite poor: it's far too short and incomplete. There are no solutions or answers to any of the problems, either. I hate this. If I shelled out the cash for a textbook I should at least be able to check my answers. That's why I'm docking this book 1 star.
