Decent, but not as enjoyable as the film.

This is a novel based very closely on the original King Kong film (or was it the other way around?). It follows very closely the plot of the movie, with a few minor differences. This edition includes a few nice illustrations as well. I read this book before watching the movie, and while it's a decent novel, this is one case where I think the movie is better.

Kong History

The previous reviewer was talking about another edition of this novel--one that she had checked out of the library several years back--NOT the book at hand. She's right that the story is a bit dusty, the writing clunky--but at the same time, it's a rip-snorting, page-turning adventure yarn about "the eighth wonder of the world." It's a look back at entertainment from another time (70 years back, actually), and though it may be a tad creaky (like the original SHADOW or DOC SAVAGE stories), it's still a lot of fun. We're not talking Literature here, but Lovelace did a good job of turning Merian Cooper's and Edgar Wallace's screenplay into an enjoyable romp of a book. Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland have done a great job of revising the story and smoothing out the rough spots in a book from another publisher (you can find it on Amazon, too), but the original still has a lot of charm and magic all its own. Skull Island is full of mystery and wonder and dinosaurs and heroes and a plucky heroine and one humungous gorilla: what more could a young reader ask for?

What sets this bargain-priced trade paper edition apart from other reprints is the outstanding full color art by Jon Foster, Frank Frazetta, Dave Stevens, and Ken Steacy. Four distinctly different artists contribute four unique interpretations of Kong. It's a keeper.

Really, theres nothing worse than a boring adventure novel

I checked out the 1976 edition of this book about a year ago from the library. Ironic that it is coming out now because they are doing another Kong movie.

This doesn't surprize me, though, because the book is terse, slow, damn near impossible to read, and, ultimatiely, boring.

I love the original King Kong, but it seems that from the start, most of its tie-in and re-incarnations have been sup-par at best.

I recommend reading this for its historical interest - it is the ORIGINAL novelization - but the newer paper backs they are coming out with for the movie are probably much better.

Fine book for Scriptural meditation

I like this text because the passages are arranged one to a page for meditative reading without notes and study material.

Passages are cross referenced with other gospels at the bottom of each page. Introduction on various approaches to gospel based prayer is very helpful. And the price is right!!!!

So simple - yet absolutely profound

Michael Hansen SJ in his book "The Gospels for Prayer" has freed the Gospel texts. I didn't realise just how much was packed into so few pages until I began to pray with my copy of "The Gospels for Prayer". I didn't realise just how most printed versions of the Gospels are cluttered and filled with helpful notes for study etc. But what if you want to just pray with them? For years I have struggled in my prayer to find and keep my place in the Gospels whilst I pray. But now, when I pick up my copy of "The Gospels for Prayer" I know that I have already begun to pray. Each page sets free the text for prayer. Uncluttered, clear and simple. This book is incredible. Such a simple idea, yet profound. I can't thank Michael enough for his innovative and Spirit filled book. Brilliant!

The Gospels for Prayer

Michael Hansen has produced an aesthetically beautiful book on how to pray with the Gospels. If you are used to reading or trying to pray with a standard bible or new testament chances are you will have lots of footnotes and comments and the text condensed into small columns on each page. Michael has produced the Gospels with the major passage from each section of the four Gospels on one page at a time, with no footnotes and not comments. It is a book that is designed to allow you to pray and enter more deeply your relationship with Jesus without distraction. Michael has also an excellent introduction outlining different ways of praying that can help you to use this book more effectively. It is a beautiful book that I cannot recomment highly enough.

I want to go on THAT cruise...

Wow (hides face)...this was one awesome, sexy, toe-curling book and I so want to go on THAT cruise.
I have never read this series before and will sure want to read more of these hot little menage books. It was not only steamy but had a pretty good (and kind of interesting) story as well...imagine a place where threesomes are the norm and you can be free to live and love without judgement...sign me up!

Finding Their Anchor

This was a cute and really great read. I love that the strong woman and how she gave the men a challenge, but also that she was able to finally let go and see her true self which was with these two hot hunks that just happened to owe a very successful cruise line.

"Two If By Sea: Ménage Romance Novel" not only had great erotic sex scenes, but the story and characters were well established throughout the book. I didn't feel like the book was in anyway short or too fast. Marie Carnay did a wonderful job with creating a steady pace and really show the growth for everyone one. In additional I liked that this story had a bit of mystery on the sidelines while they try to win over their woman.

Overall I really enjoyed it and think that it would be a book that people should certainly give a try. You don't have to read the series considering that this is a standalone, but other characters from the other previous two books do show up.

Yes, I'll admit that I'm sad to see it end, but boy did it ever make my insides go all jello and pins and needles. Each novel of the series can be read as a standalone, but like the others, I did recognize characters from the previous ones, which made it incredibly enjoyable and a delight! Too often we find ourselves stressed and overworked, in need of a much needed vacation, which is exactly what Daphne does when she books her ship cruise vacation. The only part she hadn't expected was the two ship owners who wanted to claim her as their own and show her how a woman should be loved. The sexual chemistry? I've died and gone to heaven. The characters? Where the heck is my cruise ship and how soon can I sign up? Daphne truly is the embodiment of the working class woman and both men, Damon and Tony work hard for what they offer their guests - these are people that we can relate to, we are friends with them or they are our family. Before I keep gushing and everyone thinks I'm on a one way street, I have to point out that there was a storyline that I thoroughly enjoyed. As a returning fan of Marie Carnay's, I'm incredibly pleased to find out that her novels only get better and better! I'm not saying they're for everyone, since some of her series, such as the Midnight Cove Menage, are for a selected tasted, but for readers wanting to dip their toes into this genre, Two If By The Sea is the perfect start.

while good for a regular pianist

I had hoped my daughter would use this more, but I think these exercises, while good for a regular pianist, are maybe a bit much for a beginner who is struggling just to practice every day. I don't play myself, so it may be a great product for someone who is already advanced in skill. Just maybe not for a kid just beginning.

Short and Beneficial

I'm rediscovering this series after not using it for a while. Each exercise is short and teaches a specific technical skill. There is a little stick figure demonstrating each title. Students seem to like them and don't complain like they do with other technical books. I definitely see their overall facility improve. I don't know about practicing a dozen every day, but because they are short (1 or 2 lines) 3 or 4 works great.

Piano Exercise Book

This book was what I was looking for for a couple young boys I am teaching. They seem to be able to do the exercises without too much trouble and it helps them limber up for playing other songs. I had used this book as a child. What I didn't remember was that some of the exercises afre really beyond beginner. So, you pick and choose which ones to use, that they will be able to do. But it's a good book overall. I would have liked to be able to view several pages before purchasing.

Great Expectations

The book was in good condition and arrived on time. The quality of the book was just as described (looked new).

As far as the content of the book itself, I ordered it as a mandatory textbook for my software engineering intro college course, and all the topics covered in class have been extremely fortified by the book. It is a great reference book for the topics discussed in my course and it explains them differently than the lecture but with strong backing. In other words, it has detailed descriptions of different topics which were very helpful for me.

Personally, I found this book interesting and a fun read.

Professors, please choose this as your textbook

I ordered this book for a software engineering class and wasn't looking forward to reading it as I'd read many poorly written and unengaging books in the realm of computer science before. I was completely wrong to have such presuppositions. If you are curious about software engineering or just want to brush up on your terminology, buy this book.

Not only is it well-organized with clean divisions between sections and pointed review questions, it is a stimulating read. It's not filled with jokes and it does take itself seriously, but I found it a pleasant read. I'm definitely keeping it on my shelf.
