This book is a quick read. If you want a quick overview of what Quetzalcoatl and the Mayan prophecy concerning 2012 is about, this is a good way to find out from the point of view of the native Mesoamerican. Though not native Mesoamerican himself, the author stayed true to the native outlook. In poetic freestyle it is also an easy read.

Glad to see "Lord of the Dawn" back on the shelf. This is a Seminole work...heck, I 'll just tell a good story. When the book first came out I had the rare occasion to visit with Vinson Brown and his family as Tony Shearer was supposed to drop by to celebrate the book and greet the public-but the evening was a little slower than expected. Vinson showed me an unusual "Medicine Bag" which had been given his grandfather; a doctor, who had saved the life of Sitting Bull. One day years later I am reading another book on a shelf-look up from one on Custer and there's the "CONVERGENCE" book! Whoa it takes a while sometimes, but when the dog and the butterfly dance-something is going to happen! We all of us need to appreciate the gifts we have. A calendar is one way to celebrate Thanksgivings. And "the math and the myth" involved is fantastic!

I have had a copy of this book for many years and have loved the poetry and the symbolism through out! It reminds me of a few lines of The Long Healing Prayer from the Baha'i Prayer Book: "I call on Thee O the Most Trusted, O the Best Lover, O Lord of the Dawn! Thou the Sufficing, Thou the Healing, Thou the Abiding, O Thou Abiding One!"

A Great Story Between the Two Great Wars

If you are at all interested in the time period between the two world wars - then read this book. Many of the characters are taken from the pages of history - where they are often portrayed as demonic and one- dimensional. In this story, these same characters - like Goring and Himmler - are given motivation and depth that while not justifying their beliefs - at least allows for a plausible motivation for their often horrendous actions.

Barry Pomeroy is the author of several novels and almost as many collections of short stories. He received his PhD. from the University of Manitoba in 2000 although he refuses to let that be a limitation. He is an itinerant English professor, boat designer and builder, traveller, carver, sometimes mechanic, carpenter, and web designer. As a writer he is responsible for the novel Naked in the Road and the scandalous short story collection The Bloody History of the Fertile Crescent.
